Rough Clean
The rough clean stage takes place either during or just after the construction work wraps up. Rough cleaning can include scrubbing down plywood or concrete to ensure the new flooring is installed correctly. The rough cleaning phase will largely include properly disposing of debris, leftover building materials, and other large pieces. It will also include removing stickers and labels from doors, windows, and other items, as well as vacuuming the whole space.
What's included
- Large Debris Removal: Gathering and bagging leftover construction scraps, drywall offcuts, packaging materials, and discarded trash.
- Heavy Dust Vacuuming: Using industrial shop-vacs to vacuum floors, tracks, and frames to remove the thickest layers of drywall dust and sawdust.
- Basic Sweeping and Scraping: Sweeping concrete or subfloors and performing a rough scrape to remove large chunks of dried mud, stucco, or mortar.
- Sticker and Protective Film Removal: Peeling off large manufacturer stickers, plastic protective wraps, and tape from newly installed windows, appliances, and fixtures.
- Initial Window and Frame Wipe: Cleaning large dirt build-up from interior windows and frames so natural light can enter the workspace.
Not included
- Final Streak-Free Polish: Buffing glass, chrome fixtures, or mirrors to a sparkling, smudge-free finish (this happens during the "Final Clean" stage).
- Deep Carpet Care: Steam-cleaning, shampooing, or fine detail vacuuming to extract deep-seated drywall dust from newly laid carpets.
- Detailed Cabinet and Drawer Cleaning: Vacuuming and wiping down the inside corners of kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, or closet shelves.
- Floor Waxing or Sealing: Scrubbing, polishing, waxing, or sealing tile, hardwood, concrete, or stone flooring.
- Air Duct and HVAC Cleaning: Vacuuming or replacing filters in the heating and cooling vents where fine construction dust settles.
- Hazardous Waste Disposal: Hauling away industrial chemicals, asbestos, heavy paint cans, or large piles of exterior demolition debris.
